Firewall
This weekend I am upgrading my firewall. I flushed the system with a clean gentoo 2008 install, enabled SE-Linux, GRSecurity and installed the base system. I configured my dual internet connections and my iptables packet filter with a very restrictive rule set.
Afterwards I added snort, zabbix and splunk for my monitoring needs. I became aware of splunk this week, it’s a very nice tool to find your way through logfiles. If you are an DBA/Admin you should really have a look at it very usefull!

Bytelock, how did you find out about us? Happy to help out with any questions you have configuring or otherwise. Just hit us up on the forums, mailing lists, or email!
Thanks,
A colleague of mine mentioned it. I am currently evaluating your product to see if it fits our needs for troubleshooting and log mining for Linux, Mule, Oracle Fusion Middleware and Oracle RDBMS. So far it works out great, that is also the reason I am running it at home now
Installing and configuring is a snap, I currently installed it with multiple forwarders. All is working well and smooth and the setup time took less then 30 minutes.
