I did some project management in the past and I did not really enjoy that experience, however at this site the project management is quite fun. The team I work with makes all the difference compared to the past, also the culture of this site is very different.

I guess project management is a viable option for me again, it’s just a matter of the right site for it to be enjoyable to me.

The project I am running is designing and implementing an Enterprise Service Bus and additional components for the bus like queueing. For the ESB we use Mule and for queuing functionality we use Oracle Advanced Queueing.

I’m glad to say we are near completion of the project within the set time frame.

I am currently very busy implementing an opensource ESB (mule), so far it’s nice but it lacks ways to monitor it so that point and click people can manage it ;)

In my own time I started to develop for the iPhone with xcode. Nothing really useful came out of my hands yet since I am still learning the objective-c syntax.

In my opinion this is more a developer exam then a DBA exam. If my employer didn’t require this to determine the competence of their DBA’s I would have skipped it.

Now that this step is behind me I’m planning for my OCP. I’m trying to do my handson requirement in December/January and my Admin II exam at the end of January so I can enter February as an Oracle 10g RDBMS OCP.
